Ideas For Dithers In The Ornatum Tank

Tank is big enough for 8 - 10 and the more the merrier, it makes them less skittish and more playful with each other, which in turn should make the ornatums less shy, in theory :)

went and bought a group of 12 colombian tetras today. currently settling in so ill get pics tomorrow :good:

here are the group of colombian tetras i intend on adding to the ornatum tank as soon as they have been quarentined :good:

please excuse the dirty glass.... it is after all a quarentine tank

Columbians ... nice tetras. Tend to sit in the lower half of the tank, but a good size for a cichlid dither. Pretty too.

Good choice !

although the pics say otherwise mine seem to have settled mid-top of the tank at the minute which i am hoping for tbh.... they are of a good size already so i really hope this plan works and they dont eat all of the ornatums food  its got to be worth a go and if it doesnt work then i guess ill have 12 colombian tetras for sale pretty soon

just realised its an all colombian tank now :hyper: 1 for Nelly

They look fantastic, you got them at a bargain price since most Colombian Tetras in shops are bland and have washed colours :good:

What other fish do you have in the tank? :shifty:
6 x ornatum cichlids
1 x super red bristlenose
1 x EBJD

maybe not quite all colombian after all  i forgot about the EBJD and bn pleco..... but almost an all colombian tank  maybe my bn and ebjd came from colombia too in a distant relative way

saying that where are they from? im off to find out :hey:

well the bn plec could well be from colombia ish but the ebjd is much more further north in central america (mexico - honduras)

ah well almost a colombian tank

The EBJD is indeed from CA
I was in Colombia a few years ago. Visited the Rio Amazon, Rio orinoco and Rio Negro rivers and some other smaller rivers. I saw some plecos such as some striped plecos (L129 and L340 were the only species I was familiar with) and lots of Panaques, but no Bristlenose Plecos. I know Bristlenose Plecos do live in Colombia, only I didn't get to see them. Saying that, your Super Red BN does not occur in the wild, most likely from a European or Asian fish farm, so quite a way from Colombia :good: :hey:
