Hi,

I’ve not been taking my fishkeeping seriously for the last 5 or 6 years, I’ve just had one tank with a few ancient fish. I now want to get back into fish-keeping a little more seriously and I’m looking for some ideas.

In August I’m going to get a 60"x18"x18" but I haven’t decided what to put in it yet; this is where you lot come in.

It’s going in the living room so has to look good, current favourite is to start with a large group of Cardinal Tetras and a few small groups of Corydoras, preferably ones found in the same rivers as the Cardinals. Then add Tetras and small catfish until full.

Alternatives are Synodontis with other African fish or a SE Asian theme.

I kept Mbuna before so I want a change from them and probably don’t want any cichlids at all as I’m fed up with the fighting!

Cool thats 70 gal (U.K) 84 (U.S)
If you go with the first Idea, I would have a variety of fish, but if you want to have just them thats fine, I would mix species of corie though put a bit of variety in the tank. Make sure you only add the Cardinals after 10 weeks of being set up though.

I would do a Discus tank if I had one that big :)

What's a Bala then?
Cichlids been there done that can't take the stress :S
Reef tank too much work!
Discus - tempting, could I keep one or two in a cardinal/cory tank?
Keep those ideas coming folks.

A quick google reveals Balas seem to be what I know as silver sharks. Very nice fish, but, no offence, I don't really like them :look:
