I don't reeeaaally like them but I now have green algae growing on my rocks which the fish love but I'd like to have something to give them a helping hand. I'd like the smallest and if poss only one. Is the Bristlenose the smallest? and would it be happy on it's on with my fish? I prob asked this before but I can't remember. :/

how can u not like them lol but oh well ive been told by many peeps thy eat algae out of hunger not choice so like jst to get one to clean would kinda be abit cruel in my opinion maybe get one and still treat it and gradually let it eat algae lol

As if? I'm not sure thats quite true about them eating'only' out of hunger. However you can give algae wafers too so there's no need for it too go hungry in my tank.

The good news is that its not true...

we feed our fish VERY well (lastnight was shrimp and mussel night) and at 2:00am i happened to pop down to see our common (see sig), our L141 and one of our starlight bristlenoses grazing on the front glass ;)

the bristle nose is always grazing on rocks and wood.

Hopefully you got my PM - I'd got for a trio of nice bristle noses ;)

the fish are grazing on the algae cause i's what they do in nature, not knowing when the next meal is.

you can also try cucumber/ pease(without shell)

Mine eat algae non-stop, and they are fed a plec food, courgette and other veggies.

But to be honest, I thought plecs preferred slightly acidic water, and it's not their natural environment (well - not as natural as you can get in a fish tank!), so personally I'd invest in some snails - who prefer the alkaline Malawi water perhaps?

i phrased wht i ment wrong i ment tht u shdunt jst get one to clean it would be cruel
