Hey everyone :) I'm new to the forum! I have a new aquarium which is 60 inches long, 15 inches wide and 18 inches high. I'm trying to work out the best filtration option for the tank.

So far, I've thought of 2x Fluval U4 filters or something along the lines of a Fluval FX5.

I'm planning to keep cichlids in this aquarium - which I understand can be messy.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Fx5. I'm using one on my 5 foot tank. Slightly larger dimensions than yours and I keep large cichlids and it's is more than capable of keeping the tank clean.

Iv got a red devil, a Texas, 2 jack dempseys and a small orange spotted plec.

I'm using an FX5 alongside an AllPondSolutions 2000EF in my 5x2x2, but I got my FX5 when they could be had for <£140 delivered just under two years ago and they are now >£200.

If on a tight budget, I'd get 2 or 3 APS 2000EFs, which may not have the same real life turnover (900-1200lph came up in forum test results), but they do have a decent sized cannister volume and you can always boost flow with a powerhead (JD4me recently got a 3000lph for £11). If budget was more flexible, I'd look at FX5s and Eheim 2078/2180s and get a pair of them.
