This pleco is being sold as a Bumblebee Pleco for $30.

Hi Hero

Looks like a Peckoltia vittata, Candy Striped Plec to me. Could be wrong. Not heard of a Bumblebee plec before, only the Bumblebee catfish.

hard to tell from these photos but i would tend to think its a dwarf Panaque sp. rather than Peckoltia.

Well i would have to say that I agree... I found a pic of a on the same site that closely resembles the my pics.

What would be the common name?

That looks more like it, good find Mike. Not really seen many Panaques in our LFS's.

Depends on how rare/common they are. If it is something that no one really has here then for some reason I will want it a lot more... but I need to decide before they sell it! It's between that one and the candy stripe they are selling... which I'm not sure is a candy stripe. I will post pics upon purchase!

What do you think Candy Strip or Panaques?

you already have a dwarf Panaque, your clown is one.

they are not rare plecos, even with better pics and possibly a catch locale you may not get a proper ID for it, there a lots of different variants.

Panaque is my favourite genus, although i prefer the non dwarf ones, Royals if you will, L190, the L27's, L191, Shampupa etc etc but ultimately its your choice

I made a huge mistake... bought a used 10gl fomr the LFS with gravel and filter and what not. I filled it up and put my clown in it....well I completely forgot to condition the water. I feel horrible!

I bought another pleco today (my only one now) being sold as a "Gold Pleco." Check out the new thread to help identify.

Yes, I know I'm wrong but I cycle my tanks with fish. I do daily water changes and test the water at least 2-3 daily to keep everything smooth... I have only lost 2 fish so far, 1 to ick and 1 due to the fact I forgot to condition the water.
