Hi,

I've noticed some new things in the tank and not sure what they are so I'm hoping someone can ID them for me

This is attached to a rock...

This is in the live sand, its grabbed hold of a piece of prawn and aint letting go!!!

Any ideas.....?

The first one is probably some kind of spaghetti worm. Not sure about the second though.
Hope this helps!

Great, thanks - those tenticles are set to grow a fair bit then... Do spaghetti worms only come out at night tho?

Just tried to get a better photo...

Its connected to the rock by a semi transparent tube, the 'tentacles' are transparent with whitish tips on them....

Much better pic. Either Aiptasia, or another member of that genus of Corallimorph anemones. Will probably become a pest over time, best to kill it now.

Vinegar, Kalkwasser, Joes Juice can all be squirted at/injected. Other options include predators like Peppermint Shrimp, or Berghia Nudbranchs (hard to find in the UK). And lastly, you can try the cold water approach. Make a bucket of cold saltwater ~60f and dip the rock in it. The cold water will loosen the grip of the nem's foot and it comes off easy

you could squirt boiling water as well ive heard.

Make sure you use a glass or metal syringe... Would love to see boiling water in a plastic syringe or cheap turkey baster

hmm, you do realise that turkey basters are designed to squirt fat that's been in an oven at 180 degrees + ?
I think some boiling water would be fine.
And I'm fairly sure medical type syringes won't melt either.

Thanks for all the answers, which one is most common/affective?

If I inject vinegar at it, how much and will there be any issues with vinegar in the tank?

That smaller one in the substrate that got hold of the prawn has now moved itself out of the substrate and onto a shell laying nearby, that one will be easy to remove!!

IMO/IME the biologics are the most effective. Peppermint shrimp and berghia rarely fail
