Lovely clown pleco you have there , it may loose some of its attractive patterning as it gets older though.

well he and his couterpart must be about 4 years old now not sure how that relates to their life span?

while i agree that it is a clown plec especially the way they've munched the bog wood hidden at the rear of tank, that isn't what he was labeled as when i bought them but i can't for the life of me remember what they were labeled as, i know but i was relatively new to the hobby then and didn't know any better.

Maybe Ringlet Plec? This is another of their common names.
