I bought this plec about 8 months ago now and it was sold as a bn. When I got it it was really small so I assumed that it just wasn't mature enough to have the bristles yet. However after this long and considerable growth it still hasn't got any. I was under the impression the males had lots of bristles and the females fewer but still some.

The tips of the tail are white, they're not very obvious on the photo. It's currently 2-2.5" including it's tail.

Looks like a Bristlenose to me, the females have little to no bristles, so it's probably a female

No worries...

Did you want the bristles? If so get a male and breed them, they take fairly good care of the young in the early stages from what I've read

Not particularly, I just wanted a small plec I like how they look.

Just to agree with kaivalagi defo BN plec. Mine looks exactly the same - right down to the white bits on the fins. Gotta love 'em
