Sorry I have no pic.

The fish in question, was sold to me as a bristlenose pleco. It does look exactly like all of the pics I have found on the net, except the tips of all of its fins are white.

Sorry I know its not much to go on. I am aware of how many different types of pleco there are.

Thanks

possibly a Starlight Bristlenose Pleco (Ancistrus sp(L182))

A few months ago there was a thread with a similar question. I didn't think it was a common bristlenose (Ancistrus sp.(3) ) either, but SirM and other assured me it was. Some bristlenoses seems to have the white edging on the fins. Sometimes they lose it later in life, sometimes they don't....
I think there possibly are slight variations depending on which part of a river they come from.

This is one example I found with a quick google image (of a common bn), but some seem to have the white seam to varying degrees :

Whereas this is the L183 - Starlight BN

My ancistrus has a white tip also :D
He is going in my 33Gal when the whitespot clears

Bloo.... Isn't the one in the piccy a white seam??

the starlights dont have the white bands?

As far as I understand, the L182's do not have the white band, but the L183 does :dunno:

thats what I thought.. so the starlights L182 dont have the white... eg the piccy above is the L183 - white seam ;)
Planet Catfish id's the L183 simply as a Starlight Bristlenose Catfish :dunno:

But guess we can call it a "white-seam starlight" for obvious reasons but as far as I know, it's not official.
Can anyone varify this ?
