Cant be positive but it resembles the common pleco.

I did think that fter seeing some pics of them, then looking near Bobs face saw he has something similar but the bristles dont seem as prominet or as many as some Ive seen but at the moment I do think 99% bristlenose, just like to see what you guys thought :)

I hope not as I dont think my tank (4foot 113 liters) is big enough for him if he does get full size?

My female bristlenose has similar small bristles like that, males are much more pronounced. I don't think it is a common, it would have grown more by now, they grow fast until the reach about 6-7" (given a decent size tank, good food and water conditions of course)

It's an ancistrus, not a common. will stay small.

you can do what i do if its a common one, My petland people say to just return it when it gets too big and exchange it for a smaller one.

but what do they then do with the big returned plecs?

what they should do is sell smaller plecs, eg bristlenose, instead...

if he/she was common I'd just get another tank to suit dont like the idea of returning just to get a smaller one of the same spesies/breed.

Thanks for the replies, good to know he'll/she'll will stay small :)

It is not a common.
It IS a female bristle nose, Ancistrus sp. 3

they have the big ones in a bigger tank and sell them to people with really big tamks.

thankyou and thanks for comfirming the sex, going to have to call her Bobalina now lol.
Its nice to know what she is and that she wont grow any more(if only an inch or 2 at most) so thankyou
