May i ask what you would have called it? As it hasn't been described yet then the only word that is attached to it is as Darkstar said Hypancistrus which in all fairness applies to the genus of at least 40 different fish and is hardly worthy of an id. Common names can vary from retailer to retailer let alone country to country.

L260 has so much more information attached to it when used in conjunction with a reference site or book, river it came from, size etc.

gee really that many? i know plecos are not herbivores, but low level omnivores, but am surprised that there are so many, mainly carnivorous ones about! lol i know the pretty ones tend to be more meat orientated though.

yup, all of the Hypancistrus, Pseudacanthicus, Spectracanthicus genus are. Although i don't know for sure i think Megalancistrus and Acanthicus are.

Leporacanthicus and Pseudolithoxus amongst others like a meaty element as well although are not true carnis.

If by pretty you mean black and white in its varying patterns then yes that applies to most Hypancistrus spp, personally i find Barys, Scobis and Panaques the more attractive. Thats one of the many beauties of Loricaridae though, soooo much variety
