Alrite guys.


bought this lil guy to keep my cichlid tank clean. been in there since friday and has settled in well already getting rid of my brown algae problem :D

i was told he was an orange spotted plec but jus want to be sure and to find out a bit more about em if anyone knows???

id seen pics of the orange plec and was jus thinkin mine must change as it matures.


i was jus about ready to break this really nice piece of bog wood i have into smaller pieces too.


still mite do that actually cos it would make a nice contrast to all the stone i have.

its mopani too so i dont think it would make any difference to the PH.
 
Hey smithrc could you help me ID mine aswell i think its a rusty. How big do they grow, are the ok on algea tablets, aglgea grazing and vegetables.

yep looks like a rusty to me :)

Its one of the 'violet' ones - rather that the heavily rust coloured ones
so you could really call it a Violet Plec ;) (its another common name for them)

10" would be a good guess - algae and the normal foods for algae eating plecs eg veg will be fine - but throw in some meaty foods too every now and then (frozen prawns, bloodworm etc)
