Hi All,

I've not been on here for a little while - been too busy watching my hairy legged crab eat BOTH my cute new Boston Beans. What a day that was!

Anyway, I've got two things I'd really like help id'ing if anyone has a moment.

The first is a big green bubble thing. I've got small patches of these growing, although this one is the largest.

The second, and these are the weird ones, are white tentacles which come out whenever there's food in the water. They slowly drag things into their mouths. What are they? Some kind of tube worm? They seem to sting although I'm not entirely sure. Are they bad for the tank? I hope not because my tank is stuffed full of 'em!

Anyway, if I can't post both pics due to file size, I'll put them up separately.

Thanks for looking!]

Yep, emerald (mythrax) crab. Some people say it will eat bubble algae, others say it won't. I bought one anyway, very cute guy - hell of a character. :)

Yeah, bubble algae, sometimes eaten by emerald (mythrax) crabs and just plain old worms (those are not tube worms).

Solution, two buckets of mixed saltwater. Remove the rock, pull off all bubble algae with fingers if possible. Try not to pop them even though you'll have to pop some to remove them. Then, dip in bucket one and shake it around a bit. Then dip in bucket two, shake a bit. Then put it back in your tank. The dipping rinses off any spores from popped bubbles :)

OK, thanks.

Should I be worried about the worms though? They're spreading over the rock and sand. They also seem to interfere with the coral - I have some big green mushrooms that recoil when the wormy strands come out and touch them.

i don't think you need to be worried, only if they like the taste and start to munch. my shrooms do that if my cleaner shrimps trample on them.
