Any positive ID on this Plec would be good :D

Plus, what is he worth @ 10" long?

That's a standard issue Pterygoplichthys, perhaps P. pardalis or P. multiradiatus, but there are a whole bunch of very similar species.

It's worth precisely what someone is willing to pay for it. Within the trade, it's basically a "junk" fish because juveniles, which sell a million times more easily, cost only a couple of quid. Normally adults are taken in by pet stores as a favour, or as a swap for a juvenile.

Cheers, Neale

get all confused with the common /gibby species but its 1 of them (common think lol) basicallyits not worth anythink simple reason ppl usually dont have a sufficiently sized tank 2 house them for life ..... giving it away free 2 good home is always the better bet or returning maybe for credit at ur LFS

ye classed as a common can get to 20inches and wants a large tank.

Worth £5-10 but i would not pay that.

most likely to be P.Pardalis
LFS will Try to sell them for between £10 - £20

It's on eBay with a Pictus and only 20 miles away. Just interested in seeing what I might get in part-ex value at the LFS. If I can get the pair for a fiver, I may even come out in profit :D :D

if it is a chain store then i wouldn't get your hopes up unless you know for a fact that they will swap fish for you,
most LFS including my workplace struggles to sell these on and so are very reluctant to give anything in return for them.

To the best of my knowledge, the LFS in my region have never given credit for taking fish.
With the exception of Shotgate Aquatics which is now sadly no more.
Otherwise, the best you can hope for is that they'll take a 'problem' fish off of your hands.

Ace Aquatics in Ashford (my local, tried and trusted LFS) are a completely independent, family run business and have always given me 50% of re-sale on anything I have taken in before. They do tend to shift fairly large Plecs, anything up to 12" long, albeit not as quickly as smaller specimens.
