Got 2 baby Bichirs on Wednesday, I already had 1 x 8-9" Bichir (Iggy), they are slowly starting to settle in, so thought Id take the opportunity to get some pics of them, plus of course my other babies :D

So 1st up Ziggy, who has a love of sitting on the heater (glad its got a cover )

there cute arent they1 i got 2 baby albino senegals not so long ago, they was only about 3/4 inch! 1 is about 6" now and the other about 5", still cute though!!
very nice fish there, loe the daemons, might look into a couple of those!!

Dave

Nice fish :) will the GT get on with Sev's? or you planing on moving it ?

I love bichirs really nice. The Sev's are really bright:D

They get on fine, the GT is growing up with the Sev already much larger than himself, the Sev is the tank boss, no question about it, hopefully being a large tank there is space for them both to co-exist peacefully enough (for cichlids at least).

@ Dave, been looking everywhere for an albino, cant find one anywhere :(

They had some albinos in P@H up here - £15 each though :( lovely healthy ones too.

wow theyree all awsome

can i ask what size tank these guys need

Well to my knowledge, they can reach 12", so I would say a 55g, but I believe the recommended is 40g (assuming we are talking about the Bichirs?)

The Sev, 75g, the GT, 55g, rainbows, 40g, daemons, 55g - all of these are in a 125g rio 400 :good:

dont matter should of read, id love one but i also have a rio 400 but marine but i thought they were 100 gallon

Definitely need bigger than 2ft - could do in a 3ft at a pinch. (just 1)

Well personally I wouldnt, considering they can reach a foot long, it doesnt give them much space. And they really do like to swim around alot, least mine seem to, Iggy the larger is non stop one end to the other, all day long, only stopping for food, so in a 2ft tank, I think one would be very unhappy.

Using the calculator on this site (and others) a rio 400 is 126usg, 151 x 51 x 62

seriously stunning!! grumpy little monkies  second the "thank goodness for the heater cover"

how that GT has grown. and look at Harry hes a right poser
that new camera was an excellent investment mags, the pic quality is great :)

Thanks hun :)

Still feels empty :(

I do love the new camera, I just wish I could make them understand, they need to line up and stay still while I take the pics :shifty:

Once those bichir grow they should fill it up - when I had 3 together they were so lively, always out swimming and chasing. Just watch them in a group once they hit about 7" as if they get into a breeding mood they start jumping - that's how I lost 2 before :( (even with a tight hood they found a way out!)
