seems everytime i get bettas they get ick... hmm...
anyone know what causes ick?

i know its contagious so im gonna have to seperate all the fish from that tank... had a 10 gallon seperated and 2 pairs , 1 on each side... one of the females has few spots so shell be treated.. but why do they get ick?

Iloveyou, I am in the same boat. My two week old crowntail betta, that I love, has ick. He is in a hospital jar right now, poor guy :( .

i decided to keep the one with ick in the 10 gallon by herself... she has it the worst.... the others i dont notice any spots... so they are in seperate bowls with ick treatment... i know that warmer water shortens the life of ick.. so shes in the 10 gallon by herself with the air pump and heater to better her chances ..

i just dont know what causes it

Ich parasites are always in the tank. they attack the fish when their immune systems are messed up. You fish are really under stress, what with all of the shipping, handling, etc.

Check out the pinned article in the emergnecy section(not sure if it's there) on diseases. That might help.
