OK last week i noticed some of the fish had white spots on the fins and bodys so i immediatley treated for whitespot/ick. Tetras and minnows are fine no signs of illness, Danios and guppies really bad doing all the above symptoms. Noticed that danios looked yellowy/rusty on the top so removed current meds with carbon and started velvet and whitespot treatment, last dose to be completed monday but ive lost a guppy and it looks like another will follow soon, 2 danios have showed improvement but the rest are the same. I cant see no more white spots.
Did they have whitespot, have the danios got velvet and how come the tetras / minnows seem ok?
Ive been reading and now im afriad they may have gill flukes? How can i know for sure?
i really dont want to lose my fish
thanks

What a mess.
Whitespot looks like they have been sprinkled in salt.
Velvet yellow to golden varnish, also can show in a dusting of talc.
Gill flukes, laboured breathing, flicking and rubbing, shying at objects, swimming in a jerky movement, weigh loss somtimes, can look pale, spitting food out, sores on the body.

Turn temp up to 30, increase aeration in the tank, as the meds and high temp reduce 02 in the water.
Add the velvet med again.
Don't forget to remove black carbon.

Clout
Manufacturer: Aquarium Products
A very strong and effective medication for parasitic and protozoan infestations. Treats: Ich, Hydra, leeches, Planaria, Epistylis, Trichodina, Hexamita,Tetrahy-mena, body fungus, digenetic flukes, parasitic copepods, monogenetic flukes and anchor worms.

Sure you are not seeing a red gold dust on the fish gills.

Some parasites cause lesions that look like a fine red-gold dust, which is seen easier under a light. This very fine appearance is why this condition is called velvet disease.

Hi
Thanks for the links, non of the fish were ever complety covered in lots of white spots, only a few had like one or 2 white spots on the fins/bodys but they definatley were not covered like in some pics ive seen, Since starting the treatment non of the spots remain, my black guppy had a few on his tail fin but now he is looking ok, The danios however look yellow on the top half of their bodies they are the ones who are doing all the hiding and have reddening gills. The guppies dont look like theres much wrong apart from the fact they are lethargic and hiding but 2 of them have died :(. A few of my zebras have actully come out of hiding today and are swiming around although the swimming is more like darting and theres an awful lot of hovering being done by other fishes. the only ones swimming around normally id say are my minnows and tetras.
When i shine a torch into the tank alot of the fish reflect gold but is this there normal apperance?
Im using protozin from waterlife atm.
Water readings today are as above no Amm or Nitrites

Thank you for the link
ive just ordered some, Do you think is gill flukes then?

Well i added the flubenol yesterday, ill be retreating for velvet tommorrow, How long will it take to show any signs of improvement if the flubenol worked? Already some fish are looking better and acting but most are still hiding and lethagic :(
The only ones still unaffected by all this are the tetras!
What else can i be doing anything? when should i redose the flubeno 15?
Ps i added some melafix as i think one of the guppies had fungus  but that seems better since adding melafix although hes still on the bottom

For eye laying flukes have to do one weekly dose, 4 weeks.
Velvet nasty worse then whitespot, and flukes are as in there hooks they have a nasty bacteria that enters the fish when the parasite pierces the skin.

Thanks for the info will add more next week then, on a positive note one of the danios is acting alot better, still has red gills but is no longer doing the eratic swim. Infact im seeing alot more of the fish this morning so im praying things are getting better in there,
My parameters are as should be
Amm 0
Rites 0
Rates 10
ph 7.6

Thats fine then good luck.
