So I quarentined my fish with ick, lost one molly to it and another isnt looking too good. It has stringy white stuff coming off its side fins, is this normal, part of the ick treatment?

Thanks

i'm using something called quick cure i bought at walmart, but it was also at the lfs. The molly has like stringy stuff actually attached ot the fin, it seems to be swimming around fine and all the parameters are ok. It says to wait two days and I have so could I put them back with the other fish? I just dont want to put the molly back if this new thing is a parasite.

IF IT IS ICH YOU HAVE TO TREAT THEM FOR A LITTLE LONGER THAN A COUPLE OF DAYS, IT TOOK ME A WEEK TO GET RID OF THE ICH IN MY TANK. IT LIVES IN THE WATER ALL OF THE TIME SO YOU CANT TOTALLY KILL IT OFF BUT THROUGH TREATMENT YOU CAN RETURN IT TO ITS DORMANT STATE. TURNING UP THE TEMPERATURE ALSO SPEEDS UP THE ICHS LIVE CYCLE. BUT THATS IF ITS ICH IT MIGHT NOT BE.

well the ick is gone, mostly now being 4 days of treatment but the stringy stuff is still there, it comes off but comes back after a while, sound parasitic then?

Thanks

Sounds like you dont have enough salt for your mollies considering they are a brackish water fish. My black molly tends to get it from time to time but seems to go away after a little salt is added to the ol' tank.
