My tank has just come out of a month ICH epidemic.

I raised the temp for 10 days after seeing a lot of ich on a few fish. After the temp was brought down everyone was in the clear except a day after a relapse Up again with the temperature slightly higher and now for two full weeks after a two day 'heat wave'. Now the temp is back down and it has bee a week everything seems to be adverted.

What a stressful month for me and my fishy friends. But I do recommend that people use this method (raising temp) over the chemicals.

I'd be afraid my fish would die being infected with ich for a month.

the heat method works depending on severity of the infection. If the fish are badly infected I doubt the heat would be sufficient. Plus some fish simply can't tolerate the >86f temp it takes to kill ich with heat. at that temp you run into issues with disolved oxygen and bottom dwelling fish. it can work but isn't always a perfect solution. ICH is a bugger of a fish disease.
