Hey all,

If you've read my post below, my fish have ich. Now not just my male betta, but my two females and my male guppy too :( I read on a site that the treatment should last for 14 days because of the 3 stages of the ich cycle. But the back of my meds bottle says no more than 5. What do you all think??

I haven't bumped the temp yet cuz I cant afford the mini heater yet. And I'm using Quik Cure. Does this help?

I used Quick Cure for 7 days straight at normal room temps. For stubborn cases, use it a little bit longer. Keep obsessive with water changes at this time, whether they tell you to on the bottle or not (I did, and all fish survived that bout!). If you see ANY evidence that the Ich isn't gone after treatment stops, resume treatment immediately, but only for a couple more days. That's how I got rid of it. Good luck!

Thanks. I have another question...his fins, poor thing, the tips (usually clear/creamy colored) are kinda red....is this because the ich was eating at his fins or does he have some kind of fin rot???

Sounds like fin rot to me.

See if it just doesn't clear up during the course of the Ich treatment, though. It's possible all the water changes, aquarium salt, and nice treatment will cure that one.

Oh okay, and one last question, I promise! Are you supposed to stop feeding the fish during ich treatment?? Someone at the fish store told me I should because Ich lives in their feces, but 7 days seems like an aweful long time for my poor boy not to eat!

A sick fish still has to eat. Just make sure all the food gets eaten and all the poop gets siphoned.

If he's willing to eat, then feed him! Just keep the poop siphoned out.

Cool, thanx guys..btw, his ich spots are all gone and he is feeling very good! I'm glad I found this forum...you guys have been so helpful! :D
