my fish have white spots and i've bought the treatment stuff for it
and i've changed the water and then i added in the treatment stuff, was the water suppose to go blue and if it was how long will it stay blue for ?

also my friendly fish person told me to add some more treatment stuff in 3 days. but i forgot to ask do i change the water first and then add in some more or add in some more and then change the water a few days after that ?

and also is ich dangerous to me ? (not dangerous esactly but well u know what i mean :) )

Hi,

Yes, it turns the water a bit blue. It should say on the ICH medicine you bought that it will turn your water blue. (you know, so you don't worry)

Regarding the water changes, I don't see how it could hurt to do a 10 or 20% change before you add more meds. But you really should do what the treatment directions tell you to do since they're not all the same. (even though they all seem to have the same active ingredient)

For some reason however, I have a feeling you don't have those directions. If that's the case, just call him before the 3 days. :)

hi there,
thanking u for letting me know :)
however my tank isn't blue anymore well atleast not as blue and my fish seem a bit unhappy, i think it had something to do with the fact that i took out half the water in the tank, that was the right thing to do right ?

are my fish going to die ? or well they be scarred in anyway ?

If I was a fish stuck in a small enclosure with huge humans staring at me, I guess I would be a bit scared. :) (just kidding!)

But anyway...

Water changes cant hurt your fish if done correctly. (no drastic temp differences, no chlorines or chlorimides etc)

Click this link for a very informative article about ICH, it's life cycle and treating it.

Good luck and I hope all gets better soon!

Just curious did you take the carbon out (before you put the meds in) and did you replace the water you took out with declorinated water ? it sounded like you took half the water out and didnt put any back in.

Hi....ich treatment (malechite green) can discolor the water but not usually. Make sure you are not overdosing. It definitely can stain the silicone and other decorations in the tank. My ich meds require daily dosing. Be sure to follow the directions or the ich can rapidly get out of control and take down your fish. No...ich does not hurt humans. SH

did you remove the carbon?

and yes, ich medecine will tint your water as it usually is a hard metal solution.
I prefer Malachite green but i guess they all work since ich is pretty easy to cure.

hi there,
but i didnt' have any carbon in the tank to begin with so no carbon to put back in :)

and i did put water back into the tank after i took out and dechloirnated and all that jazz

but i have a small group of tetra and one by one after i put the treatment in they started to die off on each day (well there were two that died one day but i still haven't found the body yet :()

my treatment says to put in the treatment and then 3 days later u put it in again .. the only thing is that the bottle doens't say whether or not to put in some more after that second time

and i can see my fish (loaches and sharks) rubbing up against stuff, does that mean that the ich isn't gone and i should put go throught the process of treating the tank again ?

i did ask my LFS but she wasn't the nice one and she was a bit grumpy ( what if she wants me to lose all my fish ??? :sly: )

and i was currently using half doses cause the bottle said so because of my loaches so i was definitly not over dosing with the stuff and the tank only stay blue for a few hours after i put the ich stuff in

and also my little tetra guys that are dying off the had the white spots and then on their bodies they started have red blotches is that what's suppose to happen ?? i'm thinking not since they started dying ...

sorry for such a long post but this is my very first disease ...
:(

hihi no i'm not using nox-ich
i'm using ichonex by aquasonic ?

and i'm definitly putting the meds in after i changed the water :)

I've never heard of the blue going away.. hmm. That's got me stumped.

I was just wondering about the Nox-Ich cos that's what I've always used. Tiny little bottle, lots of power. It worked wonders on my tank.
