Hello all-
I've been a lurker for quite sometime, and what a great site this is! I now had a question all the smart folks on this site may be able to help me with.
I got two Clown Loaches at the LFS last week and while they were fine when I got them, a week later one started to show the dreaded white spots.

Rid Ich and all other medicines say you should "remove filter" during treatment. I'm not sure I understand if your supposed to keep the charcoal out for the entire treatment cycle, or just when you add the medicine? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have:

29 Gallon Tank
No Live Plants
2 Black Skirted Tetras
2 Red Eye Tetras
1 Yellow Gourami
1 Red Honey Gourami
2 Fancy Platties
2 Clown Loaches
Water Quality is Good
Weekly Water Changes done religiously

Thanks in advance for any help/advice you may be able to offer.

usulaly when you add medication you should remove the activated carbon part of the filter if you can. If you don't it'll just abosrb all the medication and sending ur money down the drain! (i learnedt his the hard way )

and welcome to the fourms!!

Thanks for the reply.
So do you take it out just when you add the medicine, or you leave it our for the entire time (days) that you are treating.
Thanks again.

Yea, remove it until after you have done a final water change at the end of the treatment (when all the ich has gone)
