I think I made a bad mistake  I bought a few neon tetras a few weeks ago and when I put them in my tank I noticed they had Ich (not bad, they're all better now). But, I took a piece of driftwood from that tank for my fry tank, I figured that as the Ich were on the fish they wouldn't be in the tomont stage on the wood. I was wrong and now I have a minor ICH breakout in my fry tank (1-2% of fry have a spot or 2) . I don't want to do nothing because I'm sure the ICH will multiply and overwhelm the healthy fry. The problem is that these fry a very young, just over a week old so I can't use meds (not that I used meds to cure the neons) because it is too strong for them. What I really need to know is if the fry will be able to handle the increase in temperature? (to 86F). BTW these are betta fry, they aren't overly delicate but I'm still worried about them. I feel bad for my babies -I'm a bad mother :-( Does anyone have any other safe treatments? TIA

the best bet for now will be the heat approach but only a couple of degrees at a time and watch how the fry react as you go. Let them be your guide of how high to go. I have never used meds in a betta fry tank so i cant advise on if they can handle any of the ich meds.

Thanks, for the quick reply! I have already started doing that. I'm raising the temperature, 1 degree every 12 hours. I've added an airstone to counter the decrease in oxygen as the babies are too young to breathe from the surface yet. Hopefully this will work.

Hi,

I am treating ich in my tank at the moment with salt & temp set at 86. I have guppy fry in a breeder net which sits close to the heater and they seem to be doing fine.

I increased the temp really slowly over a week to get to 86 and it's been there for nearly a week. Some fry are about 1 month old and the newest batch are about 2 weeks old. They seem to be doing well so I would think that it would be OK for your fry if you increase it slowly.

Im not an expert just experience from what I am doing now. Good luck as I know how much we like our babies !!
