2 days ago my Clown loach caught ICH but not severely so I started to use Quick Cure which contains malachite greeen and formalin, this morning I was surprise to see that the ICH is gone :D , But should i continue to use med, i have been using 1/2 dosage but i have to transfer my leo plec to my big tank cause the med seems to be burning his skin. The cory's are fine and spotless and the 2 clown loach are ICH free at the moment, Should i continue to medicate and change 25% of the water after 3 days or should i stop right now?

I am definately not the expert, but from what I've read and understood, you should continue using meds for 3-4 days after ALL signs of ICH are gone.... simply because it is still free floating in the water and without continued meds, it could re-infect the host(your fishies). It parallels the idea of taking antibiotics for strep throat... you don't stop taking the meds as soon as you feel better - you need to take the entire prescription to be most effective. Hope that helps. If I am wrong, please correct me! :D

mike's right ;) 5 days after works too... just to play it safe.

Agree with all of the above. Remember too that if you are running with meds in the water, keep all carbon and other chemical absorbing media out of the tank. Your good bacteria too will need to be boosted up once you clear the meds. after 5 days or so.

The medication says that it cures ich in 2 days and also the direction said use med 3 days then do a 25% water change which i'll do tommorow, so you guys are saying that i should keep medicating for another 3-5 days to make sure, I have Clown Loach that's why i'm a little worried that too much med might end up killing them. BTW Thanks for the replies guys

well honestly i'm not experienced with clown loach ich... but here is my research for the day - "It is only the free-swimming stage of the parasite that is susceptible to treatment; neither the trophonts under the epithelium or the tomont cysts can be killed. So any treatment plan has to be carried out over a period of time in order to kill the emerging parasites." hope this helps! good luck..... :)
