The two sets of baffles are in with minimal fuss
fish024.jpg

The first baffles high, I don't know but i set it high, but there, it's high. (sing in tune with the woman who swollowed a fly)

There may be some other meaning to that?!?

anyway.......... Mix up some play sand crushed coral and LR 'gravel' as the guy's at the LSF called it. got to get some more sand tomorrow to finish off the mix. At the moment I had the mix in some old tank water with a power head and heater to keep all the critters off the LR alive. Tomorrow if the silicon has set I'll be adding the DSB and starting to run the new sump in. I'm thinking of running the two (old and new) parellel for a while so I can get a build up of as much life as i can be for depending on the new sump.

Well after all that I did a water change on the tropical tanks and replanted one and now I'm knakkered!!! so I'm of for some rest.... I do have a nice shot of an overly large zoo that I'll share with you, it's about the size of an old 50p then with the tenticals.....well it huge......

And one last thing is that red thing a sponge?

Sump looks awesome Matt, you've got some great DIY skills there :) How were you planning on running the two in parallel???? That would be a fitting nightmare if you ask me :S

As I typed that lastnight I was thinking to myself it's going to be a plumbing nighmare, but i like a challange!!

Well here it goes. got the sump in and all is working fine, need some more RO (used 36l and still wanting more) Have to get that tomorrow. right on with the pics........

sumpv2001.jpg

First things first had to get the old sump out and the shelve out and lower because of the hight of the new sump.

sumpv2002.jpg

With the sumps side by side and the Cup. in a bucket I went about putting the DSB in and changing over the old sump water and sand

sumpv2006.jpg

DSB in.

sumpv2008.jpg

Cup. in a bucket!

With that all done it was time to use the new toy from my Grandad :hey: :D

Oh yes we love power tools!!!

All that done the base went in with some cork and a old duvet cover! ( DIY bodging at it's best!) and the tank was moved into place and the pluming started.

( if this pic's on its side its photobucket being a beebing beeber)
sumpv2012.jpg

then all that was left to do was put the Cup. back in and start mixing and adding the water.

As of now been running for about one hour and all is well.

Things still to do are get a cover cut for it, move the light so the centre support can go back in, ulter the wireing and add more water. Apart from that I'm all done.

As for now I'm knack again started at 5 it's now 00.30 so I'm going to sleep for a day.

Hope you all enjoy!

Lookin really good there Matt, well done :) Are the bubble walls working for you?
:good:

I look this morning and all is well bubble trap are working fine. Need some more water in the system because the return water to the tank has about 2" to fall to the surface and thats making bubbles!!

I know I was going to sleep all day to day but I got worried that there would be a leak and I would flood the place that I didn't sleep much.

On with the work today and I'll hav a update later

Looking good so far, although I'm a little confused about why you made the baffles so low... Couldnd't you have made them a couple of inches higher and increased the overall water volume?

@ombomb> the middle baffles are 3" from the top, Quite hard to see because I used two bits of acrylic to do it.

Aquascaper> had to be that size for the skimmer because I'm having it in the sump so i can had a auto-top -off of media reactor to the side.

This should help.

And one last thing is that red thing a sponge?

The Blue Circled one is some form of Algea

The Red Circled ones are Zoa's :good:

PS Sumps looking good

plumbing :shout: :shout: :shout: I hate plumbing

Chac> Thanks for the ID. The Zoa's are mulitplying at a rate of nots finding more every day. The big one has some growing under it that i try to target feed when the big one closes. The Red Algae things looking like its branching out and has got little white hairs on the tips. This has been groing elsewhere aswell but thats the bigest one sofar.

Dan> I have a £60 call out charge and charge £30/ hour or for large jobs £120 a day. ;)

All is well, looking to get the skimmer working and a Meida Reactor set up for PO4. Still to cut some more Acrylic for a sump lid.

And once again it';s time to do the gardening so anyone for "a lovely bag full of macro algae" I'll pay for postage. Give me a PM if you want some.

Also have a bit of substrate from my old sum that i don't need (about2KGS) It's in a bag with old tank water and i've seen pods in there. This is up for grabs aswell

Anyone.....................?????????????
