It's a sheffield based fish society forum. And I won the POTM which means I won a voucher to spend at the best fish shop in the city. Not sure how much it is, but hey, not complaining!

It was nice to have some good news today (after the bad news of finding out my bike has had it's brake pads removed and the back break arch ripped into two! )

Well done Curiosity, and yes... being an area based competition a voucher or materialistic prize is a lot easier.

We have discussed it on a number of occassions and because of our diversity (of areas), it is not going to be easy to engineer a material gain for any of our competitions on TFF.... I live in South Africa, and if I win a voucher to a Pet store in Luton UK,... not going to help any.

The topic is still under discussion though (on & off) and I personally hope that we can find an acceptable sponsorship system to make something like this possible for our current POTM competition and maybe even the TOTM. It's only fair that something concrete (usable) is given to enhance the stature of such competition.

Oh I wasn't trying to suggest that there was something wrong with our POTM competition! I totally understand it doesn't make sense to have prize for a global forum.

I was just really excited that 1. I won (or rather my kuhli did) and 2. I won a prize aswell

great pic, my khuli's never hold still long enough for me to get that good of a shot.
i am also happy to see that they are the right size, my khuli's always look that big and i though they were fat seeing yours is nice indication is healthy.

Congratulations on winning the contest.

I'd like to explain our rule about mentioning aquarium society forums. It's simply that if it belongs to a real life aquarium society that has meetings and is not for profit, it's perfectly fine to mention its name. In fact, we encourage you to talk about it in the section we have set up for local aquarium societies here:

On the other hand, if it's just an online forum, that's different. We have run into some that were actually profit making businesses and they wanted to promote their events on TFF. Since we cannot allow that, we have made the rule that they must be part of a legitimate aquarium society to be named on our boards.

Either way, I'm happy that you won.

I would actually be happier for there not to be a prize - I think the medalion and TOTM winner under your name is prize enough. It should be for fun, when prizes start to be become involved things always seem to take a turn towards the more serious
