Being new to fishkeeping I was a bit skeptical when I read about feeding them peas. Not sure why...it just sounded odd to me.But I wanted to try it so I got some frozen peas.Made a batch for dinner and set some aside.Popped a few out of the skins.Tried one for my fantail first. It was gobbled up double quick and the ghost shrimpies were sparring over the crumbs
Moved on to my bettas and it was a hit with them too.Even the 2 new ones cleaned theirs up.It was too funny watching a betta stalking a pea
Now I wonder if I mince them up a bit would the guppy,ADF and neon tetra bunch like it too? Might as well try a small portion.Their janitor shrimp can clean up if they don't care for them. I just love giving the fishies a treat
Oh...the peas for the mixed crowd is the best entertainment yet.I let Koda jr put some in and he didn't crush it up as small as I did.The little bits got eaten pretty quick. The neons were chasing all around batting the bits between them. Now the ghosties are dragging around chunks nearly as big as they are.The fancy guppy is trying to get a bite in as the shrimp haul it around.I can almost hear the little voices piping,"MINE??...MINE!!....MINE??
The only one not seeming to get a bite in is the ADF,although he is scooting all over the tank.He just never seems to latch onto anything. But he's a light feeder anyway.
This is more fun than TV
And yes...I know how silly it sounds but I bet I'm not the only one who gets a kick out of seeing their fish scrambling for treats
There are a couple of big pieces left and the guppy is circling in an attempt to keep them to himself. But the neons have him outnumbered and get a bite in here and there. The AD frog finally got in on the act too.To be on the safe side,I think I'll scoop out whatever is left before I go to bed.It must be a bit on the hard side or it would be gone by now.The guppy is getting a territorial glint in his eye and I don't want any brawling after hours
