i have a common pleco already and 3 kuhli loaches cleaning my tank but i dont think it is enough so i want another pleco more exotic and diferent than a common pleco thayt relativly easy to take care of what do u sugest

I'd get some of the smaller type of plecos. The commons will get to big. I don't know what I'm gonna do with mine :(

hillstream loach?

u can see their hearts!

But they are not tropical, or plecs!!

Hillstreams are coldwater fish, they can be kept in cooler tropical but they won't be as active etc.

How about a clown plec? Hmmm the plecs I have are pretty funky. The L134 is gorgeous looking (yellow and dark brown) and is quite skitty and the L052 is beige and brown but he changes colour and contrast dramatically to blend in with things.

A King Tiger (L066) or Queen Arabesque (L260) are cool too. Then obviously there's the zebras (L046) (eh, Alien_Spawn!) but it depends on how much you want to spend.

Try looking at Planet Catfish's cat-eLog and go through the plecs and se what you fancy. It's how I decided on mine.

Hi,

Cheese Specialist mentioned several fish that are suitable. Personally I would go for a Clown Pleco in your situation. In my experience Common Plecos especailly when they are older are quite aggressive so shyer Plecos like King Tiger, Queen Arabeques and Zebras are likely to stay in hiding and not feed. A Clown Pleco in my experience will stand up for himself and isn't as shy.

Plecos like King Tiger and Zebra also tend to be sensitive to water conditions (more so then most) so unless your are confident you can support them it is not worth the money, these fish can also be very hard to acclimatize and get feeding so be warned.

You may want to try a Flash Pleco or a Candy Striped Pleco, as others have suggested it may also be worth having a look on Planet Catfish.

Good Luck

I was gonna mention that! We have one in my betta tank and it is sooooo cool. You really can see their hearts!!!! :D
Some fish stores call them freshwater flounders or chinese butterfly suckers........
they are so cool and spotted.......a real oddball of the tank....... :p

I would ditch the Common Plec and get 10 Ottos instead. Lot better at eating algae and are smaller.
Living_dead have you thought of buying a 50 Gallon for him and in summer he could go in the pond and in winter he would go in the tank. the tank would not be permanent so you could stock that with other cool fish. I know a few people who do this. They find that Plecs do better in ponds. You put a 6 inch plec in the pond in when it is 20 degrees and when it dips below this in winter you catch a huge Plec. Good way of making them bigger to trade in for more credit too!

i wanted to build a 50 or 100 but no one has answered my glass question yet -_-

I think a Longfin Bristle-Nose would be the best for you.they are great workers, are pretty and are very hearty.I have one that does nothing but work his tail off cleaning my tank. And to top it off..hes cool looking.
