I went to my local LFS because I had a coupon, I planned to buy a big bottle of plant supplement. Right next to the end cap of plants they had shelves of betta in those damn cups. I saw a red and white male who I at first thought was dead (because he was holding VERY still with his mouth tilted toward the surface). After taking a closer look he started moving and had a lot of spunk. I'm not talking about just flaring and doing the wiggles, he actually tried to chomp at me through the cup, I guess he wasn't happy I woke him up. I left the store without buying him telling myself "I already have one jerk fish." but I keep thinking about him back in that store and wondering if someone else might have bought him already. I have a spare 5 gallon glass tank lying around after I bought a nice looking minibow for my current betta. Now here is my problem. I'm wanting to upgrade my current betta to a ten gallon after I move in January. I'm really bad at making decisions. I have the ability/equipment to buy and take care of the little guy, but should I?

If you have a cycled tank and want him get him.

"I already have one jerk fish."

Bettas are not jerks all they are doing is displaying natural behavior when it comes to being aggressive, In fact its the fish keepers fault, Bettas are solitary fish it is the fish keeper that makes them live in a small tank with unsuitable tank mates.

Bettas are solitary fish and should be kept that way, Even snails can fall victim to a Betta, I had to re house my 2 mystery snails because my blue Crown tail was constantly bitting off their antenna and when it comes to shrimp the rule is, If it fits in his mouth he will eat it, I sometimes feed him live day old Platy fry he loves hunting.

I say it in a loving sort of way, I don't think my betta is really a jerk, just a spunky fella, thanks for the advice though.
