What do I need? I also want one that's easy for a beginner and requires minimal to medium care. Anything really. Biggest I want for a tank though is really a 20 gallon or maybe a 25 high.

You might do better asking this on a reptile forum, not a fish forum, as your other thread got no replies

I know I just wanted to see what I got as I know there's plenty of people that keep reptiles, but only a few with geckos on this one. If I get only a few replies I'll try a reptile forum.

so many to choose from, snakes, tortoises, lizards, or spiders, depends on your preference

I don't want spiders definately a no no, and not really a tortoise. Btw spiders aren't reptiles......

I wouldnt keep any reptile in a glass aquarium personally, did it once with a royal python it kept escaping and theyre not designed for them or ideal due to difficultys with humidity etc

get a wooden viv and go for something like a corn snake if a snake is your thing or a leopard or crested gecko if lizards your thing

no, i know, but many think they are as they are kept in the reptile house at many a zoo  ive got tortoises and have had a californian king snake in the past

What's a wood vivarium? Never seen one?

I just read what one is, but it sounds like they're about £50 to buy or £45ish to make so that's about $60 to buy or $50 to make.
I know a few people that keep reptiles in glass tanks. Is there any specific reasons? Wouldn't think humidity would be a problem with those mesh metal type lids.

Glass conducts heat. Wood doesn't.

Frogs are great. Green anoles are amazing. There is so much to choose from though.
I'd go for a gecko.

Is there any "big downsides" to having a glass one? If not I'd like to go that route as it's cheaper, then maybe get a wood viv down the road when I'm more experienced :)

Use more electric due to heating glass and glass has a posibility of cracking with a heat mat.

It all depends on what reptile your wanting really.

You can always pick up second hand wooden vivs.

Can't find any second-hand wooden vivariums around me, just a ton of glass ones. :( ATM I'm leaning more towards a gecko in first then a snake in second.

or just save up and get what you want when your ready to do it properly? I used an a glass fish tank when I got my first snake as I rushed into it and it was a nightmare keeping a steady temp, humidity and the snake kept escaoping

I picked up a great 3x2x2 viv off a reptile website the other week for £50 with a pulse stat and ceramic bulb. Loads of reptile bargains about more so than aquariums in my opinion
