hi i absolutley love siamese fighters  there are so many i love all of them especialy the EXPENSIVE ones such as crowntails  i intend to get a 3.5 gallon tank & get the most gorgeus betta i can find wether it be off the web or from a breeder once i have the money but theres 1 huge problem :( my dad wont let me have anuther tank :-( but i realized in about 1 year 3 months i will be 16 and he wont be able to stop me :sly: for now i am considering getin a normal 1 from my lfs for my community tank

I can definitely recommoned KG Bettas for some really gorgeous fish ! Though they are usually around £10 + £6 shipping so your're looking at roughly £16 per fish. Though the shipping does not increase much if you buy more fish, so in effect makes it cheaper per fish to buy more.
A 3.5 Gallon will be absolutely fabulous for 1 fish, though you could even divide it into two :hey:
He doesn't have that much available at the moment, as they usually get bought pretty quickly once they arrive the country from Thailand.
There are still some left, but keep your eye on the website for new shipments arriving

You've asked this question before about the community tank, and I stand by my answer.

It seems you have
2 dwarf gouramis
2 polka dot loaches
1 guppy
3 platys
5 neon tetras

Well, none of the fish are good tankmates. Bettas and gouramis aren't reccomended to be kept together, guppies are a no, platies are usually a no too as they are brightly coloured and neons can be nippy.

OohFeeshy, you are right - that's not a suitable community tank for a Betta

i intend to get a tank for JUST a crowntail nothin else in the tank

Ah that's cool then - but I thought you said you'll have to wait until you are 16 to do so :dunno:

Anway, you know what we've recommended now, so good luck :)

i was but after consideration i changed my mind sory for the misunderstandin

A good thing to keep in mind - Being 16 means NOTHING, I can saftly say that being a 17 year old. If you still LIVE in your dads house, he can say no to whatever he wants (as much as I HATE this theory).

Your best bet is to go buy the tank without telling him, set it somewhere simple, and not put a fish in it. If after 2 weeks or so, he's noticed it and not freaked out about it or told you to get rid of it, you're probably safe to stock it. ^___^

didnt think of that but surely if i a payin rent i could have a small tank for a beutiful lil betta in my room

Ummmm, hmmmm, as a parent I would be far angrier with my children if they went behind my back rather then discuss it with me like an equal. If I believed my child capable of looking after ther fish properly with no excuses whatsoever then I would be fine with it. But that's me,not your father. And I'm pretty nuts anyway *She says looking at her living room with three good sized tanks, pictures of dragons on the wall, band paraphenalia and other such things.
As a renter of property, certain things do have to be cleared through the landlord. In this case, your father. While in most cases he should say yes,you are still his child and no matter what you pay he will still see the kid. Unfair maybe, but true. I seriously suggest sitting down and talking it through calmly and not throwing a tantrum in a teenage like fashion guaranteed to smeg off any parent. It'll only harden their resolve to stick to their guns.
Hugs,
P.

Miss Dib Dabs you are entirely right by what you are saying :)

But if all else fails - bursting into tears and sobbing from the heart sometimes helps ! But pick your moment to ask though - like do loads of house chores etc.

But never a good thing to do something behind a parent's back. I learnt many a hard way when I was a teenager.
And let me tell you something else - I moved out of the house when I was 18 and then moved back again around the age of 24 while I was studying - and whether I liked it or not - and whether I paid rent or not - I had to live by my mom's rules.
It grated a bit sometimes, but such is life ;) Nothing is ever perfect and we can't always have what we want.

As my beloved 7th grade history teacher used to say, better to ask forgiveness than permission

Seriously though, do everything you possibly can to convince your parents. It's better that way... but that said, I have several bettas and tanks that got snuck in behind my parents' backs. Of course, I had already reached the point where there were so many you wouldn't even notice an extra or two
Now my parents have just given up all hope. :D

yeah my dads totally into fish and everything and he funds my supplies and stuff but he doesn't like the fact that i know have like 5 million bettas. especially because I've gained 2 this passed week  and now the shelf i keep them on looks
hopelessly crowded. :D
