My juwel tank hood's floresent light has packed up and as its a sealed unit, I can repair it. A replacement hood is likely to be around the £30 - £50 mark and Iam thinking I might as well just replace the whole tank with a bigger one for another £100.
Iam thinking if I get a bigger juwel tank I could transfrer my filters, gravel, water, plants and fish straight over without the need for any cycleing, it would not even create a mini cycle?
What do you think?

yeah u could do that but if ur buying a larger tank ull need a bigger filter and more gravel etc, but the bioload would still be the same so it should be fine

Iam getting a juwel rio 180 and the filters the same size as my current, so hopefully wont creat too much of a problem, may just need a few 20% water changes to help it on its way!

Should be fine with the same size filter, and you will have more water to dillute the pollutants....quite a few people add an external filter to jewels to provide really clear water and as a back up.

good luck! :D

Got the 180 today as the 96 started leaking, have transfered every thing over, hopefully will be all ok.
Looks mint, beach suroundings a beach stand, lurvy!
I emptyed the old tank and as I moved it the remaining water poored out of the seam, think I had a lucky escape!!

good news mate, I have the rio 180 in beech and you're right they are a lovely looking tank.. mine complements my other beech furniture in my dining room lovely!
