I Think Seals Are Close To Failing

The front seals in my 20gal tank look like they are close to failing. The tank is densely plant which is just going to make thing harder, why couldn't it of been one of the other tanks . I'm planning on waiting till summer, so I can move the plants and some of the fish outside. I understand I have to completely empty the tank, but how to I get the old seals off? Then put the new ones on, I've never used silicon before .

Also is there anyway to get the scratches out of glass? cuz I might as well to that while I'm at it. The are a lot of scratches.

There are products you can repair glass scratches with such as the one linked below but I don't know if they will leach toxins ito the water.
