My cat snowy has been anaemic for nearly 4 years,(he'll be 16 next week)i took him to the vets last week after they upped his steroids, has he wasn't improving ,since Friday he's lost his appetite completely although he did eat a tiny bit of liver last night, all he does is drink water...and then wobbles to the litter tray for a wee,the only time he moves.

The vet did say there's not much more they could do and it was up to snowy to eat...

I've tried alsorts of meat & fish and cat food, even cheese & milk, which he's not allowed to have because of his meds, but i'm sad to say i think he's giving up...

Any suggestions on what i can tempt him with?

Oh no, sorry to hear this :( *hug* for you and Snowy

Have you tried prawns or a little smoked salmon? My old boy loves them when he's not feeling too great.

Also venison seems to really get my cats going, maybe you could get a little bit of it to try?

when my late cat bubbles stopped eating, we found she would still have some scrambled egg and smoked salmon, hope that helps. You could try tuna brine? its only liquid so he might have it, but its probably got some nutrition in it from the tuna.

scrambled eggs is a great idea. most cats love eggs. easy on the tummy too and lots of protein.
it is so tough when our pets are old and feeble. my sister just lost her cat this week as well. she was not too old but had been on prednisone for most of her life due to allergies to just about everything. poor girl just couldnt hang on any longer. i feel for you.
all the best *hugs*
cheers

Thanks all ,still not looking good  -i even went to asda at 10.30 last night, and bought some fresh beef and strong smelling fish to no avail....

I will try the scrambled eggs right now and see what happens.

Oh I'm so very sorry, I feel like I know the adorable Snowy - Wish I could come round and give you a hug and support

Take care

Thanks seffie -i've spoken to the vet today & he said it'll be kinder to bring him in...

I am so sorry Harlequins....my heart goes out to you...I have a 15 year old myself and understand the attachment and what you are going through.

::hugs:: - - - there is a liquid mixture we used with one of my old cats to give her a boost when she was really down - - a mixture of milk, honey and eggs. you could also try mixing up a batch of powdered kitten formula - they seem to really like a lap of that too

Thank you for all your support, but snow took a turn for the worse and collapsed, unable to walk and kept crying out...

So after taking him to the emergency vet,we done the kindest thing for snowy and had him put to sleep.

:rip: my darling snowy, and have fun in kitty heaven to play with tigs & bobo & barney...

God why does it hurt so much........
