because about a month ago I lost my platy, and now one of the female guppys is showing the same symptoms. Today at lunchtime everything was fine, everybody was eating. The only change is that I fed them some zucchini and only the guppys went for it. Tonight I came back from school and find her in one of the top corners of the tank, hiding in the plants and not moving much. I sprinkled a little flakes to see if she reacted to food and she did, but immediatley after she retired to her corner and hasn't moved from there since. Even after being nudged by a male guppy.
She's not showing any other symptoms (yet!). I did a routine test on my water yesterday and got 0 ammonia 0 Nitrites and 20-25 Nitrates. Today I got the same readings. I performed a 10-15% waterchange. PH=8 (it's always like this) and temp is 26 Celsius. I have absoultley no idea what could be wrong. The only thing that changed my weekly routine was the zucchini. Could it be indigestion?

Oh! And I finished treating my tank from ICK about two weeks ago. (She's not showing any spots or marks though) and last week I bought a few plants which I submerged in a little vinegar before adding them to the tank.

I know that this lethargic behaviour could be caused by a number of things, diseases. I'm really racking my brains here trying to figure out what could that thing be, but I'd really appreciate it if someone could give me some advice. Maybe the same has happened to someone in the past. I could really use the help.

Thanks a lot! (sorry for the long post)

P.D. At the moment I don't have a QT tank, but have some aquarium salt

No need to apologize for the long post. Sharing all pertinent information allows fellow members to repond better and quicker, 'cause they know the situation.

Is your Guppy breathing heavily? Do her gills look red? Do you see anything unusual on her? Is her tummy large and round? Just trying to come up with ideas here... Sounds like you've done the right things - doing water changes, checking water levels. I wouldn't think the zucchini would hurt her, but I suppose it's a possibility. If the vinegar was the problem, I would have expected it to cause problems right away, not a week later.

Have any chemicals or cleaning products or perfumes or anything of the sort been used near the tank? (Although I'd expect symptoms from all fish, not just one...) How old is your fish?

I'm stumped too... Is she pregnant and getting ready to give birth?

Good luck and keep us updated

seeing the water parameters are ok, my guess would be that she's pregnant. Is she fat???

Hi guys!
Thanks for the quick replies.

Well... I have thought of the possibility that she might be pregnant since she does have a gravid spot but it's not that dark, nor is she very fat. My other female guppy is larger and gravid spot is darker.
I don't see any red gills, or heavy breathing. The only unusual behaviour is that she's not active as she used to be. I'll watch her closely because she keeps hiding in the plants so I can't take a good looks at her. I'm not sure how old she is, (she was a gift!) but she's about 1 inch long (a bit over 1 inch).

just keep an eye on her and post anything different in her acivities or appearance. she still may be pregnant, i have a female who never looks too pregnant when she drops

Hi, this is an update report.

Early today she was swimmig around a bit, what made me think she was better. She ate normally like the other fishies and I tried to take a good look at her, looking for any marks, spots, babies coming out, but no... nothing. After eating she swam a little bit more before retiring to her hiding corner and then she hid under a rock. It took me quite a while to find her! I even thought she had jumped out of the tank or something!

Oh man, I do hope she's holding, because I can't find any other reason for her to act like that, but honestly I don't see any obvious pregnancy signs. *sigh*
