She's kinda swollen in her belly and seems to have lost a few scales, and there's a little sore on her side. There isn't anyone in the tank to hurt her, so is this a parasite or something? She looks like she's really pigged out, and she's not very active. Please help! I have a hospital tank now........so I will be able to get her by herself to medicate with whatever you all rec. :-(

Hmm..... it's hard to diagnose with what you've described, so I'd just suggest you quarantine her and add some salt, it can only help. If she shows any other signs, maybe we could get a better tack on whatever is buggin her. Good luck! -_-

thanks Julie......I am so humbled by your response...............I mean come on, you are THE juliethegr8t! You are the master of all betta knowledge! :*) :fun:

I can't seem to locate the sicky in the tank, so I am hoping that she is just laying low and healing.........hope she's not......ya know........ :X

did you overfeed your fish? you might have a swim bladder problem on your hands. and this is due to overfeeding. get some epsom salt which is a laxative and stop feeding him for a day or 2. also try to get him to flare with a mirror if you do not have another betta. flaring helps to make some bettas release more feces.if the scales are starting to raise it could be the start of dropsy :/

Well, it is a female betta so I am not sure that she will flare?! :dunno:

I don't think I have overfed....but I guess it is a possibility......I will definately discontinue the feeding for a few days just in case.

As far as dropsy......I have heard of it before, but in all of my years of keeping fish I have thankfully not had to deal with it. Is there anything I can do about it?

I can't find her in the tank, but I do have a lot of plants.......I think she is hiding in them. If she comes out, I will give you an update.......I just hope she isn't dead already........... :-( I loved her so....

oh, and how is epsom salt different than aquarium salt? I guess I am a do-do head on that one........ :dunno:
