HI MY NAME IS ROSA AND I HAVE A 29 GALLON TANK WITH DIFFENT TYPES OF CICHLIDS THAT INTERACT VERY WELL TOGETHER. ANYWAYS A FEW DAYS AGO I NOTICED THAT THERE IS A HOLE DUG INTO THE ROCKS AND I CAN SEE THE BOTTOM OF MY TANK, I ASKED SOMEONE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE BABIES, BUT HOW LONG WILL IT BE????????I HAVE ACTUALLY SEEN A MALE AND FEMALE CICHLID GUARDING THERE BABIES AND IT IS SO ADORABLE HOW THEY BOTH PROTECT THEM

they will most likely be good parents - what kind of cichlids do you have, Oh and please ease off on the caps lock

Yea, it's important to let us know the species. Depending on the species you have, the other fish in your tank could be harrassed or killed during breeding.

Just to let you know tho, most cichlids dig holes in the gravel and that doesn't mean they are going to breed. I know you said you saw them protecting babies but wanted to let you know that just because cichlids dig, that's not indicative of them breeding or wanting to. Almost all cichlids dig anyways.

Mine sure do dig. They are great at moving around gravel and uprooting plants. And no babies yet. I'm still holding out hopes that my firemouths are a pair but no breeding yet.
