I've got two tanks (see sig) and I've got the opportunity to buy a 48"x19"x19" tank for about £80 - my only problem is that I've got two male bettas, one a plakat and the other a crowntail.

Am I right in saying mixing two males of different breeds is a bad idea - equally bad as mixing males of the same breed?

Thanks

Correct, 2 males together whichever is a no-no

You could divide off a section at one end of the tank for one of them :D

both plakats and crowntails are the same "breed", betta splenden.
they have just been bred with different tail shapes is all.

Thanks, yea sorry, knew it was same breed - me being dense!

Not really keen to split a 4' tank just for 1 betta! :/

You could put a divider in the tank, and then keep one betta on one side, and one on the other. :)
