Okay, as was suggested to me, I managed to get to PetSmart today and buy a couple plecos. I bought two. I was so distracted with my 2 little boys to keep track of and being on crutches that I forgot the name of the plecos I got! I only remember the guy who helped said they were a 'mini' size, which sounded great to me! I think they are 'common plecos'. I can't find any pictures of other plecos to make sure though.

I REALLY don' want a 10" pleco! I hate those things anyway! They give me the creeps! Ever since I had some as a little girl they give me chills! LOL I don't think I can't handle a huge pleco!

Anyone know links with photos of various plecos so I can find out which one I have?

I can't post a pic this week 'cause my fiance has the camera with him on a business trip.

Different Petsmarts' may sell differencce types of fish. The only plecos I've ever seen at Petsmart around here though are common plecos which indeed will get large. A photo will definitely help.

Yeah the petsmart that I go to only sells the ones that get big. Maybe go back to the store and see what they're labelled as? And if it is one that's going to get large, take it back.

I called petsmart back and the guy that helped me said they are called 'Rubberlip and sometimes called Bulldog plecos'. He said they won't grow anymore than 3"-4" long. Which I believe I can handle.

Now I'm gonig to look them up just to make sure I'm not getting jipped. LOL

pray to God that u haven't got acommon plec. I have one in my 6ft x 2ft x 2ft, and he is 10 inches long and a beautiful fish. THEY DO GET BIG

 I think the plecos pretty much all get big. I have never heard of a mini-size one. If you don't care for them I would re-home them. I've had to do that with fish. I like to use Craigslist. There are other algae eaters that stay small. Don't always trust the clerks in the fish dept.

A rubberlip/bulldog plec will get to 4-5 inches. Commons have the potential to get huge, my biggest was 14" last time I measured, nearly a year ago.

Not all plecs get huge, there are many species, but all commons will given the proper care.
