Okay so I got 12 female bettas today for my 120 gallon and they are all up and about swimming around the tank and kicking everyone out of their hiding spots. :p

I just put a divider in my 10 gallon, one side for my tiny red female betta (Pea Princess) she is about an inch maybe less in length and I didn't want to put her back in the 120 for 2 reasons:

1. Even though the new bettas I got today (from wuvmybetta) are very sweet and rather docile, my female betta is about 1/3 their size and I didn't want her to be more intimidated than she already was in the 120 gallon without them.

2. She had a hard time getting food and would easily get chased away by all of the other community fish so she got really skinny and had stress bars all the time.

And then on the other side is empty. I wanted to put my male betta (Angus) in there as soon as he gets over his finrot problems. That would leave me with an empty 1.5 gallon bowl.

Should I buy another male betta and put him in there (after cleaning it really good) or should I just got for another 10 gallon and divide it into 2 parts and get two more males? :dunno:

Oh BTW Thanks Bettamomma for getting be addicted to bettas. ;) :p

maybe with all that angus has been through, he should stay in that bowl.

you could get a different betta for the divided 10 gal if you wanted... but be careful, cause i have 1 girl who realeases her eggs whenever she is next to a male!!

Will he be happy in the little bowl? I feel so bad because I think he would be happier in the bigger space. He is a pretty big boy. :dunno: He will stay in his bowl until he his 100% healthy though. Since the female is about an inch or smaller maybe she would do good in the bowl? :dunno:

I think I will pick up anothr 10 gallon. They are only around $10.00 at walmart.

as we've seen in some recent cases, some bettas prefer the smaller space...mine are all in 1-2.5 gal tanks and bubblenesting/swimming merrily...

just make sure you have enough time to clean and care for them all. Not to think the cost of maintenance.

Obviously you need to have time to enjoy them too!

it's a fine line between betta lover and betta collector.....

I do agree with that!
I also have 2 guinea pigs to play with and cages to clean in the whole mix, also so it sucks up a bunch of my time.

I don't have a whole lot of other hobbies except a few sports in the summer that take up too much of my time so I invest most of it in my pets.
But, I have worked out a great schedule.
I let one of my piggies out to run around and get his exercise while I'm cleaning tanks, so he's in the same room as me while I'm running around transporting tanks. So, he thinks I'm playing with him then.
I do tanks on a rotating schedule. I have 3 tanks at home and 2 at work. the tanks at home I do 1 tank on one night, then the other 2 on a diff night - generally 2 or 3 days later.
The piggy cages get cleaned on the weekends. :)

Well I do water changes and gravel vacs every weekend because I am usually not busy, or on Fridays since I don't have school then. I don't have a job, so I have pretty much all day on Fridays through Sundays to do whatever cleaning I need to get done. These are the tanks I have to clean, water change, and gravel vac on the weekends:

55 gallon with gravel
120 gallon with sand (super easy!)
29 gallon with gravel
10 gallon with gravel
1.5 gallon bowl with gravel
.5 gallon with gravel and only snails.
10 gallon with gravel

So it takes about 4 hours out of my day to complete everything. But it is worth it and I enjoy it. I had to teach my little brother and my mom how to clean the tanks, do water changes, and gravel vac and after doing one tank each they were ready to take a nap! They tell me I am crazy to do all the tanks in one day, but once I do one, I feel like I should just do the rest and get it all done in one day so I have the rest of the weekend "off"

I don't think another 10 gallon would hurt...But I am thinking about getting Toggle and Angus better before I buy anymore fish.

Toggle (my black moor) is doing good, but I spotted a few white dots on his tail and one on his side again. :/ Tomorrow should be his last day for the ich treatment so hopefully they will be gone by then.
