I Saved 2 Betta Lives Today

I work next to a PETCO. They usually get Betta shipments on Thursdays, or Fridays. On my lunch I like to pop in, and check out the newbies. I went in today, and the shelf was empty. ( They will probably come in tomorrow) I was going to leave, but decided to check out the tanks since I was already there. (Looking for any pretty ladies, or a nice Chocolate Oranda. (I also have a Goldfish tank)

I could not believe my eyes, I thought I must be seeing things. Alot of their tanks are 20 long divided. They had 2 males in the same tank. It was bad enough that there were about 20 mollies in there also. 5 Sailfin. (I'm sure that looks like another Betta to them.)

I found 2 employees, and asked if there was anyone in the fish dept. THey said not right now, but 1 offered to try and help me. As we were walking to the tank, he asked what I needed. I said "Someone put 2 Male Bettas in this tank over here. They will kill eachother" (By now we had reached the tank) He replied "oh, which are they?" I pointed out the 2 male Bettas to him. He then asked me what he should do. I felt like saying uuummm take one out genius. I told him that they are usually by themselves, and don't really belong in any of the tanks. But as long as he tooh 1 of them out it should be ok. He netted it, and asked me where he should put it. HELLO, did your ship just drop off on earth this morning? (again in my head.I did not say it aloud) I told him putting the 1 in the next tank would be fine. He thanked me, and told me I should work there.

You can be sure that I will be in again on my lunch tomorrow to check on them.
I would go earlier, but I go in at 6am. They open at 10 am, and I go to lunch at noon. So that's not too bad.

I'm sure they're much happier tonight.
I'd consider calling there and telling a manager what happened.
The folks that work at the PetSmarts and stuff here all seem to know their bettas.
I test them all the time.

I went back today on my lunch. Both ere still in the seperated tank where I had the employee put them. They still have not received the new shipment. I don't think these 2 will sell quickly. People wanting 1 will come in see there are no cups, and leave. the smaller 1 is all red, and I think he is a spade tail. THe other is a cambo with a very clean body, and purplish red fins. He is huge, and very pretty. THey look very unhappy in these tanks. THe current is very strong, and there are too many mollies. They are hiding under the water spouts, in the plants.
I now have 25 Bettas, and my fiance will kill me if I buy another. I feel so bad for them. I may be getting 1 tomorrow though. I made a really nice big vase tank (NOT with plant on top) for my dad, now My mother wants one too. I told her about these guys, and she told she would take one. I will feel very bad choosing which gets Heaven, and which stays in Hell.

Or you could buy them and try to adopt them out. Maybe someone here would take them. I would, but I'm up to my nose in babies at the moment.
