Hey! i just joined the forums because im a complete newbie when it comes to taking care of fish, and i came here to straight up make a thread asking for help and advise B^) but i was told after posting that my comment needed the approval of a moderator, and that i needed more than 1 approved post, so i guess introducing myself is a good start right!?

I was recently gifted a 2 gallon fish tank with 2 convict cichlids, and i just discovered that the tank is WAY smaller for them, with the whole, 1 inch per 1 gallon, they are 3 year old each and are like, 2 inches or a bit more each

thanks and well met? i need that help thread approved soon ;_;

Hello and

 to TFF!

Oh dear..they are likely severely stunted. The best you can do for them is to get them a bigger tank ASAP. HERE is some more info on convict cichlids, which seems it calls for a ~20g tank for a pair.

I hope your other post gets approved soon so you can get the help you need.

yeah i heard that several times, the whole inch of fish per gallon, i actually thought that my tank was of 10 gallons, was really surprised when i found out it was 2 and my fish were suppose to be on a tank 10 times bigger than that hahahahhaa

You can often upgrade to a bigger tank more cheeply through ebay.  I have myself bought a good as new 10g full setup for £45 and a 20 gallon full setup (needed TLC) for £20... so good deals can be had.

When you do upgrade, maybe sure to read on on cycling your tank.  I am assuming your current tank has a working filter which would make cycling a new tank (filter for a bigger tank) waaaay easier.

Well, since your on the market for a new tank, can't you just "accidently" purchase a 200 gallon? ;) As prairiesunflower said, make sure to cycle it. We have a page on that here on the forum that is quite worth the read. Anyways, welcome!
