But I have a high doubt that I can't  Please confirm...or maybe even surprise me!

Current tank chums - 5 clown loach, 2 keyhole cichlids, 2 kuhli loach (rarely seen, live in the filter housing)

Just to add, I was hoping for a group of about 5/6 and possibly a bunch of black neons.

Hi,

Newbie here but been keeping tropicals for over 20 years and as no-one else has replied I thought I would ;)

You don't mention the size of your aquarium? With the The Tiger Barbs idea; they can be very nippy, so I would advise against them if your also hoping to add Tetras.

Not kept Keyhole Cichlids before but most Cichlid species tend to be slightly agressive and teritorial once settled so I would again advise against adding tetras to the mix. The Tiger barbs may be able to hold there own, but this would depend on the Keyholes, the Clowns and Khuli's wouldn't be a problem as long as they aquarium is large enough.

Hiya, ta for the reply.

The tank in question is a 200-210 litre, planted with many caves and a few bits of bogwood.

I've been told that keyholes are the calmest of cichlids and should be happy with anything, I may have been misinformed though and may stand corrected. :good:

I read also in my searching of teh interwebs that albino tiger barbs are less aggresive than 'normal' ones  but somehow I'm struggling to let that one be believed.

I don't mind leaving out the neons if I need to, I'm just mainly worried about wether the keyholes would be alright

Hmmm just found this link - My link

Looks quite promising - would you agree with it's suggestions?

Pleasure ;)

Yes after reading about Keyholes, it would seem that they are classed as a peaceful dwarf cichlid; so they shouldn't be a problem.

Only thing to watch with the Tiger barb (Albino or regular, as still the same species) is the nipping, but they tend to be less agreessive in larger groups from memory so if you have the space I would go for small group of something like of 6 or so.

Hhhmmm new one, how would they be with a pleco?

Think I may leave them now, I've given it some thought and I'm probably better off with the smaller neons. Thinking along the lines of poops and stuff, I already have plenty of big fish.

I love barbs, the tigers are always active chasing each other around the tank, never had a problem with them and a Plec either.
