I love Bettas so much. They're so incredibly beautiful and graceful creatures. I love them so much.

However, I always find myself checking my hand before I buy a betta, not matter how pretty it looks. The problem is that I don't know how I can keep so many. I have three right now. I've got one, my first one, in a 2.5 gallon with a filter and all that loveliness; the two others share a "Betta-box" with a divider to keep 'em from killing each other. I want to find a way to keep more in an environment where I can use a filter and heater to keep them all happier.

Whenever I go to the LFS I always stop by the Bettas before I buy supplies for my aquariums, but no matter how good they look, I never buy.

Is there a way I can keep more than one in a tank without the risk of them killing one another?

Oh, I almost forgot; are Betta-boxes really that good for Bettas? I get so worried that they're unhappy in such a restricted environment. I get so sad when I think of them like that. I want my bettas to be happy, but I also don't want them at each others throats.

You can buy dividers to fit almost any size tank  You can divide your boys and keep them safe from each other while giving them ample territory and swimming room :)

You know, that was probably the most obvious answer... I can't belive I never thought of that

But about the thing with the Betta-box, is that necessarily good for them?

I have 3 tanks set up this way. I order my dividers from aquariumpros.com..

how big are the betta boxes? Are they the kind that hangs at the side of the tank? Those seem rather small to me, less than a gallon. I tried dividing tanks, but I found it more difficult for me (just my personal preference), filtration was a problem because I used corner filters and the water movement stressed the fishes so much, they got finrot. However, without filters, I needed 100% water changes which I found difficult to do as often as I wanted. So I got 1 gallon bowls for everybody. I find them easier to clean, I don't mind changing water twice a week.

Maybe when my guppy fry has moved out I will try again and put the bettas in a divided 10 gal. Your setup looks great, f250.

i keep all 10 of my bettas in seperate 1.5G plastic shoeboxes all in one room. Of course there is no filtration so i have to do 100% water cahnges every week and make sure the tank is clean.

I also put in oen of those room heater things in that room to keep the tempreature nice and toasty at 78F :)

I've got a divided tank, and I got around the problem of water movement stressing the bettas by leaving the section with the filter in it empty... that way the water has time to calm down some before it gets to the fish
