I'm trading my small cichlid tank for a larger one, but where do I put my cichlid in the meantime? I only have one cichlid that is less than 2 inches in length. I have a 2.5 gallon fry tank, with fry in it, and a 29 gallon tank with livebearers. I'm leaving in 2 hours and coming back in 2 or 3 days. Is there something I can make to keep the cichlid away from my livebearers but in the same tank to allow filtered water to it?
My local petstore doesn't sell tank dividers and the next petstore is way to far.

EDIT: I'm leaving to trade the tanks, so that I cannot wait until I get back.

What kind of cichlid is it?

If you have a craft store nearby you could get a few panels of these, cut them to size or weave them together... might be an effort to keep them upright... maybe taped to the rim of the tank and dug into the sand/gravel.

I don't have enough time. I need to leave soon...What do I do...?

2 litre pop bottles, cut the bottoms and tops off, cover the bottoms with nylon stockings then hook them in your main tank and put the fry in them.

I think I figured it out. I put one of those plastic desk organizer box in the corner and the lid holds it on. The female guppies can get in, but I tried to cover the square holes the best I could..
