In columbo episode s10 e14 around 1:54 Columbo indicates that he heard the 1 gallon per 1 inch of fish rule and had it checked out and it is actually true ! Now everyone knows Columbo wouldn't lie.

Speaking of vintage American TV, a great Perry Mason episode was on last night on METV, "The Case of the Glittering Goldfish." Several scenes take place in aquarium shops circa 1958 and every scene includes vintage stainless-framed aquariums, even the courtroom climax. The script includes lines such as, "He's got the libido of a guppy." and "The red bettas have finally arrived from Hong Kong." The '50s were boom years for the hobby and the show clearly reflects that enthusiasm.

Lieutenant Columbo was genius. I especially liked his 1959 Peugeot 403 Cabriolet! Great show. I will have to look up the episode.
