that having a fishtank could be so theraputic! before i got my fishtank i was always so stressed(being a sinle mom and all) and one day my kids asked to get a fish. i did some research and got 7 platies and 7 guppies. we lost 1 of each the first week due to stress from moving but since life has been great! i could watch my fish for hours! theyre very entertaining and calm me to the core! anyone else feel this way? whats your story?

:good: That is great!!! Glad it is working out. Fish can be totally relaxing!

I know exactly what you are talking about. My tanks are my stress reliever too. As you said I can sit and just watch the tank to relax. I even find doing a water change and a gravel vac can be a time to just let my mind wander and relax internally while my hands are busy with the simple chore of cleaning the tank.

i think everyone is like that I just sit on my bed and watch my fish and people walk past my room and just look at me like i'm an idiot LOL

Yup I love to watch my fish. Fish keeping is great. I even like cleaning
my tank

I so agree with this! I lose track of time doing maintenance, it is a sort of brain dump, clears out all the busy nonsense thoughts from the day.

Relieves all the stress in my life... being an unemployed 21yr old there is SOOOOO MUCH :p :good:

I also sit and love watching the fish. Especially my angel pair.

Totally agree :good: i'm a mum of three & my youngest, well i'm sure he is possessed lol.

I have a big tank in the hall way & I've now put a chair out there, so when they are all hyper in the evening & hubby is home, I shut the door & disappear to my chair with a glass of wine & watch the fishies for an hour, bliss.

I also really love the maintenance, water changes are strangely theraputic.

i guess its like looking at a living work of art. ive created an under water world for them and watching them live and explore it is deeply satifying. my friends always catch me sitting by my tank and they always say "hey i dont think theyre going anywhere" or "theyre still there" lol. but its ok. i love my fish and am glad i decided to get some!

some of my friends think im weird bc i got excited that my guppy dropped her fry. and they also dont understand when i talk fish jargon at them. lol. oh well. i love my fish! theyre soooo beautiful and i love watching them!

It stress relieves me too. Whenever I have had a busy day and I'm tired, I just go up there and hang out with them, and it makes me feel much better.

i know exactly how you feel. after my kids go to sleep i pull up a chair to my fish tank, drink a beer or glass of wine, and just unwind the stress of the day. its great!
