Hey guys, I currently bought a bigger tank and had a few questions. Right now I want to switch my current guys over to this new tank, but I want to be sure I do it properly and safely.
The tank I have now is a 30 gallon. The tank I just bought is a 55. How on earth do I switch them over to the 55 once it gets get up. The 30 gallon has been running for exactly one year. The biological filter is established and all that.
Maybe someday down the line I will use both tanks, but I want to just switch completely to the 55. So how do I do this? It may seem stupid, but I'm no expert and I want the best outcome.
Recently my filter was having problems and I went out and bought a brand new one for 30-60 gallon tanks, so it has 2 filters cartridges.
I guess I don't know exactly what to ask, but can you guys maybe give me an idea of how to do this in the best way possible?
Any and all help would be appreciated as I want to start setting the new tank up within the next couple of days! THANKS!

You just transfer all the stuff over to the new tank, even most of the water as you have to match ph and temp.
If you are using the old substrate in the new tank you will have to put the fish in a big container while you do it with a heater.

Alright. Well I bought new subtrate and new stuff. If I transfer the water from the 30 gallon, will it be enough initially?
Then just add water as I would if I were doing water changes etc?
I just worry that is going to be an awful lot of added water.
Or do you mean I should heat the water I am adding in before actually adding it?
Sorry, I just want to do it right, so I am getting paranoid:)
Thanks for the fast reply though!

If your using the same subsrate for the other tank put the old tank substrate at the bottom of the new tank, then add the rest of the new sterlised substrate on the top, add the fish at the correct temp.
Test the ph of the new tank to make sure it hasn't altered to much.

I bought all new subtrate. I don't want to use any of the old subtrate.
