I saw that the Amazon puffer (colomesus asellus) is community safe. Could I keep a school of 7-8 in a 55 gallon tank?
Also, could I keep a congo puffer (tetraodon miurus) instead of the amazon puffers?

My current stocking is 3 green severums, 1 rhino pleco, 1 rope fish, 2 syno. europtis and 2 pim. pictus.

Thanks!

South American puffers are not community safe. Much better to think of them as fish for species-only tanks except that there are some fish that can be kept alongside them without harm. Plecs will generally avoid trouble by hiding inside caves all day. But the severums will be nipped, as will the ropefish and the Synodontis euptera. The Pimelodus pictus might be okay because they move very quickly, but that depends on how large the tank is and how well the plants provide useful cover.

Tetraodon miurus needs to be kept alone, end of discussion.

Cheers, Neale
