Hi, I got a 37 gallon tank a while back and they gave me a ton of fish right away. I got 4 cory cats 3 bristlenose 2 electric blue acaras and 1 oscar. I'm giving away the oscar fish tomorrow but I want to know if I can add 4 White Skirt Teteras to my tank.
I'd have 4 cores 3 bristle nose 2 electric blues and 4 white skirts in my 37 gallon. Is it overstocked? Will they work together?

The tank is small for 2 acaras. They may come into conflict with the peaceful Corys, who will blunder through their territory in their endless search for food. If the acaras pair off, the life of the Corys will be difficult.

That's a lot of bristlenoses for one tank too. You'll have to be sure both they and the Corys get proper nutrition.

Who is the "they" that gave you the fish?

As already mentioned, there are serious issues with this combination both in terms of numbers, and compatibility. At the moment it is not so much overstocked as inappropriately stocked, and this means debilitated fish leading to more problems with health. The Oscar is gone, very wise; I would rehome the acaras too, as adding sufficient tetras and cories to give them better health is not going to work otherwise. Also, the "skirt" tetras are prone to fin nip but a larger group of 10-12 can usually but not always deal with this, but it will limit suitable tankmates.

In that tank I’d keep one acara and one bristlenose, and perhaps the cories, and nothing more. That is a big enough load in a tank that size.

I would not keep a pair of acaras in anything less than a 50-55 gallon.

If you insist on the white skirt tetras, stay on top of water changes, for sure.
